The clock is ticking and the weeks are slipping by. It’s way past time to try catching up with my posts. On a recent drive to the Cerro Punta side of Volcan Baru one Sunday afternoon, we stopped at a bridge which hasn’t been around very long. The new bridge lies alongside an old footbridge, once the only means of crossing at this particular point. I love bridges for no discernible reason, and although the new bridge is very simple, its rusty neighbor has character and I am certain possesses many stories of those who have traversed it over the years. I am delighted the old footbridge remains as a juxtaposition to what is new.

Like you, Ida, I love old bridges. Do you know when this one was erected?

I honestly have no clue, Mary Nell, and the high humidity and heat age everything so quickly here that it really is hard to tell.

Progress is nice but I much prefer the character of the old bridge. Nice interpretation of the theme.
