Panama has numerous bridges to span the vast number of rivers and streams flowing haphazardly across the country. Originally, there was absolutely no doubt which two bridges would be featured in my blog on the “Bridges” theme. Unfortunately, no opportunity arose during the allotted time frame for the 2014-2015 challenge in which I was able to shoot the Centennial Bridge and the Bridge of the Americas leading into Panama City other than shooting from a moving vehicle. Consequently, a few bridges around town became my focus. Although these local bridges are quite unassuming and very humble compared to the two main bridges in Panama, they do provide a glimpse into the area in which I live.

I especially like how you chose to photograph the second bridge.

For those of us who don’t know anything about the area you live, these bridges give us a little of a taste of the locale.

And that became the reason for posting these and not including others farther afield.

I think they are fabulous – ;ast one a bit like the covered bridges? do you think so? – but obviously its not covered!! so perhaps nothing like! – its the shape I suppose. Colors are beautiful – great job.

I never thought of that, Patricia, but now that I look more closely, you are right. There is a similarity. Thank you for the compliment. 🙂

Very, very nice. I love to see photos of bridges – I’m just not a fan of driving over big ones myself! These are so nice in their settings.

Crossing large bridges never caused me the least amount of concern until the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake in the San Francisco Bay Area that caused catastrophic damage to the bridges and freeways. Now I pass over them with a little more trepidation.

I believe that the more typical, local bridges show the real life in Panama.
